General English courses

Our General English course runs throughout the year and is available at the following levels A1-0 (Beginner), A1 (Elementary), A2 ( Pre Intermediate), B1 (Intermediate), B2 (Upper Intermediate) and C1 (Advanced). Students have the choice of registering from 1 to 48 weeks and can choose to study in the morning from 9am to 12pm, or in the afternoon from 12.30pm to 3.30 pm or from 4pm to 7pm. Please look at our timetable for further information.
Students are required to take an entry level English test in order to assess their level and must also fill out a needs analysis form.
Speak Up London will provide its students with all the learning materials in class and it is also possible to rent or purchase the course book at reception (£20 to £25 depending on the book).
The school will be closed for Christmas and Bank holidays so there will be no teaching on these days. Look at our terms & conditions to check the academic calendar.

Our English school in London develops all aspects of the English language including speaking, pronunciation, listening, grammar, reading and writing. The focus is on improving your ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
During your English course you will be expected to participate as much as possible and work individually, in pairs and in groups as well as take part in whole class activities. All staff hold a valid ‘Enhanced DBS’check or staff will sign a declaration form until their DBS check is returned.

Each week you will be given homework and at the end of the week you will have opportunity to revise what you have learnt. Students can study quietly, do homework, read for pleasure or use one of our computers in the student lounge. There is free wi-fi throughout the school and the student lounge has a coffee machine and vending/snacks machine to save you time in your breaks.
Although the school promotes speaking in English as much as possible, we have multilingual staff available should you need to speak your native language.
